Music by Vangelis

"What interested me the most in this film was the atmosphere and general feeling than distinct themes. The visual aspect of this film is unique and that's what I intended to enhance as much as I could " – Vangelis

If Vangelis was a movie character, would be a western hero: he never misses. Following successful music of Chariots of Fire (1981), the composer surprised with the excellent music for Blade Runner (1982), among his classic works and a soundtack that enhanced the use electronic music in films.

Few electronic soundtracks explored so possibilities of their own resources as Blade RunnerAlmost mystical in its contemplative atmosphere, the memorable score marked its time as much as the movie. In the profusion of musical climates possible by electronic ways we have the sensuality of Rachel's Theme, the pop moods of Wait For Me and Blush Response and techno-blues in Blade Runner Blues, one of the most memorable moments of track and film – the death of Zora (Joanna Cassidy) through shop windows. The famous Love Theme with its jazzy sax, which already became a joke as sexy cliche, corny cliché or radio spot, still stands as one of the great romantic themes of the composer. Same to the evocative Memories of Green (from album See You Later, 1980), one of the most beautiful pieces ever written by Vangelis. Complete the edition the powerful march End Titles, so famous and emblematic of Blade Runner as the Love Theme. Warner also released a two-CD expanded edition.
