Cul de Sac
Music by Kryztof Komeda
Polish composer Krzystof Komeda was one the most original creators in film music field. He studied piano as a child, in times of war and was the vocation for jazz that guided its evolution in the 50s.
In 1955 he set up his first group forging a unique and very personal style of creation. Worked with Roman Polanski in his early short films until both started on long feature film with Knife in the Water (1962). The partnership followed on Cul de Sac (1967), confirming Polanski as a consistent director and ensure his international career.
Concentrated and direct as the claustrophobia of Cul De Sac, Komeda´s music is descriptive in passages as Pushing the Car, Dick's Death or the main theme. Always starting from jazz models. But even the source moments heard on radios that could be obvious jazz muzak, sound interesting on the composer writing. Despite the short length CD, Cul de Sac honorably integrates the team of great works left by the composer.
