Lialeh
Music by Bernard Purdie
Fortunately the rescue of rare scores has brought to market works that certainly did not receive due attention in their time. Lialeh (1974) was an obscure erotic movie of black cinema had a nice score founded on soul music.
Bernard Purdie, American drummer highlighted as one of the busiest in the black music of the 60s and 70s, chose for this score instead a “hot” music a more romantic approach. Ballads and swinged themes alternate in the score, some with vocals as Easy, Touch Me Again, or instrumental tracks as Conscious. Stands out the catchy main theme Lialeh, with its relaxation mood. The score has its value both in the the instrumental presence of metals, keyboards and of course Purdie´s drums that stands out especially in the powerful progressive rhythmic construction of Hapnin, that also feature a nice performance of Wilbur Bascomb on bass. The label Light in the Attic has specialized in release rare recordings of black music of the 60s and 70s.
