Phenomena
Music by Claudio Simonetti, Fabio Pignatelli
Good representative of the techno era in group Goblin´s career, the music for Phenomena (1983) is actually composed by keyboardist Claudio Simonetti and bassist Fabio Pignatelli.
The complete soundtrack included themes from other composers and even heavy metal bands. It has never been published in full just because of its collective content. The edition commented here (of Cinevox label) brings the themes of Simonetti / Pignatelli and its variations. The film is one of the good moments of review that director Dario Argento made on his own work. The recycling of recycling in the brilliant director´s aesthetic.
Very characteristic of techno-pop style of the period, Phenomena has in the synthetic rhythms of Sleepwalking (Jennifer Connelly in trance) its most memorable moment for the film. The main theme Phenomena, with lyrical vocalization and synthetic rhythms, is a remarkable techno-gothic. In the same way works the allucinated voice of The Wind. An average work in Goblin´s career, but still interesting for it is one of the few highlights among lots of techno-pastiche of the early 80´s film music.
