Scorpio
Music by Jerry Fielding
With lots of movement and great ideas, the soundtrack for Scorpio is easily remarkable as one of the best moments of Jerry Fielding.
From tone to atonal, from romantic to suspense, Scorpio surprises at every passage with its profusion of musical models: the French accordion evocation of the main theme permeates the score as an inner remorse. With its jazz march, CIA Tail is typical of 70´s police drama and Boiler Room is almost pop score. Fielding´s regular angular and intricate writing is heard in Zarkov Wags His Tail and Big Wheel. The "big band avant-garde" suite in Into the Underground is one of the highlights. And yet we have humorous moments as quoting Strauss in The Imperial Vaults and easy listening of Cocktails at Heck's House. Also an surprising romantic moment (Jerry Fielding romantic ?!) in Susan's Apartment, for strings and piano. Unlimited, inventive, surprising.
