Squadra Volante
La Polizia Ringrazia
Music by Stelvio Cipriani
Interesting variation to the standard of soundtracks for polizzioteschi – police adventures produced in the Italian cinema in the early 70s.
Different of the hard-boiled genre models, Squadra Volante (1974) displays a youthful and lounge theme (Squadra Volante) that gets more romantic version in Attimi D'Afetto. The "crime-music" and the suspense are evident in obligatory electric basses lines as in Rendez Vous, Doppo La Rapina, in the sensuality of Locale Notturno and psychedelic Droga Party. Pop music constructions are the basis of the music. Basically it is a soundtrack between the rock (guitar and bass) and jazz (flutes), very melodic and tonal with a consistency and sound fluency that few works of its kind had. Considering the often monothematic production of composer Cipriani, Squadra Volante is surely one of its most varied in content. One of the best euro-cop soundtracks of the period. The edition of label Digitmovies also includes the music of La Polizia Ringrazia (1972), a pioneer film in the genre polizzioteschi. Monothematic and atmospheric, uses sets of strings to the suspense. No romanticism or pop variations here, only the dramatic resignation on Commissioner Bertonni figure (Enrico Maria Salerno).
