La Svergognata
Music by Berto Pisano
Suggestionata
Music by Carlo Savina
Like many soundtracks oriented pop models, the score to the drama La Svergognata is a marathon of lounge themes, all pleasant and carefree.
The score served more as a background to the affairs of a group of vacationers in a seaside resort than especially to suggest the conflictuous romance between a middle-aged writer and a teenager. As the trail to Cipriani´s Anonymous Venetian (1970), La Svergognata is also a row of variations to the same theme, the catchy ballad Orchestra For Edda. Light swings as Free Hammond serve to diversify the repertoire. And once again the very special voice of soprano Edda Dell'Orso makes the edition stand out above average for her incomparable performance, as in Voice in the Night and the main theme. Refined arrangements and constant romanticism in a great moment of European´s B cinema easy listening. The CD edition by Digitmovies also brings Carlo Savina´s music for Suggestionata (1978). Curiously the old school talent of Savina (principal conductor of Nino Rota recordings) seems once again misplaced doing 70´s pop-rock. Result: a score that does not risk much in 25 minutes of slight variations on the romantic main theme. Many harpsychords and vocoder for aural effects.
