Angelo Badalamenti

[1938 -] New Yorker of Italian descent, Angelo Badalamenti received distinction as the partner of David Lynch in most of his movies. From classical music influence and studies, Badalamenti graduated in composition and worked as pianist in the early years of activity. The partnership with director David Lynch started with the atmospheric music for Blue Velvet (1986) which, unsurprisingly, earned him recognition and stability in partnership with Lynch and his nocturnal and surreal cinema. Initially hired by the director as the vocal coach for the actress Isabella Rossellini, Badalamenti turned out to work on the soundtrack after composing Mysteries of Love, a recurring theme in Blue Velvet. The partnership with the director followed with: Wild at Heart (1990), the series Twin Peaks (1990), Twin Peaks: Fire Walks With Me (1992) Lost Highway (1997), The Straight Story (1999), Mulholland Drive (2001). His music of subtlety and mysterious presence is also noticeable in movies like Naked in New York (1993), The City of the Lost Children (1995), The Beach (2000), Evil Enko (2004), Very Long Engagement (2004) and Stalingrad (2013).
